These strong and robust small horses are the descendants of mountain tarpan horses from the Eastern Carpathians and still have many good qualities of their ancestors, the wild horses. With good instincts and nerves of steel, they were previously used primarily as patient work horses. Today we appreciate the Hucul as surefooted trail riding horses, as talented jumpers and as coach horses. Friendly and with an uncomplicated nature, they are popular as a family horse and also in hippotherapy.
